Hello Josie Liz

How I Fixed Excessive Hair Shedding And Balding

It was terrifying. I vividly remember the panic, always on edge. A few strokes with a brush or hair washing days caused my strands fall out in alarming amounts, making it look thinner and thinner.

Cutting out chemical treatments was a no-brainer, but I quickly realized that what I consumed (or lack thereof) mattered just as much if I was going to grow back the bald spots and reduce the thinning.

I initially experimented with the popular 'hair, skin, and nails' supplements that everyone raves about, but that didn't work.

So, I shifted my focus to a holistic wellness approach for my entire body, and incorporated the following choices that I now understand played a significant role in restoring the health of my hair.

I have been doing the following things consistently for over two years:

Magnesium

It's been instrumental in regulating my menopausal hormones, which in turn has helped to minimize hair loss. While my hair may not be as thick as it was in my twenties, I can rest easy knowing that magnesium has played a crucial role in helping control thinning. Here's my full write up on magnesium, which includes the exact brands I use

Collagen

Collagen provides structural support to hair follicles, promoting strength and elasticity. Supplementing with collagen or consuming collagen-rich foods, like bone broth, can help compensate for decreased collagen production with age, leading to stronger and less brittle hair.

Collagen also contains essential amino acids that support hair growth and repair, contributing to overall hair health and appearance.

Vegan collagen is a scam and marine collagen is inferior.

I use NativePath Collagen for its quality, sourced from grass-fed bovine.

Black Seed Oil

I take my black seed oil orally. This is how I prep it. It's rich in nutrients like fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals that nourish the scalp and hair follicles, promoting healthier hair growth. Its anti-inflammatory properties can soothe scalp conditions like dandruff and reduce hair loss caused by inflammation.

It also contains antioxidants that protect hair from damage caused by free radicals, helping to maintain its strength and vitality. Regular use of black seed oil can result in stronger, shinier, and more resilient hair.

Shilajit Resin

Shilajit is a natural substance formed from the decomposition of plant matter in mountainous regions like the Himalayas. It's prized for its rich mineral content and has been used traditionally in various cultures for its potential health benefits.

It's packed with minerals, vitamins, and fulvic acid, which nourish the scalp and support hair growth. Its antioxidant properties protect hair follicles from damage, promoting healthier and stronger hair. Regular use of shilajit resin can result in improved hair texture and vitality.

A Word About Becoming Menopausal...

Menopause disrupts the hair growth cycle due to decreased estrogen levels, leading to thinning, loss of volume, and increased breakage. Declining estrogen can also cause scalp dryness and irritation, worsening hair issues.

Use the Clearblue Menopause Stage Indicator to understand your likely menopause stage and get a better understanding of your symptoms. It will give you peace of mind!

While we may not be able to halt the symptoms of menopause entirely, we can implement the above list of actions to improve the regulation of our body's internal processes, leading to healthier hair and overall wellness.

Even if you're not yet menopausal, you'll be doing yourself a major favor by getting on top of this now.
